There are several recordings in history which music lovers debate for the claim as the "first rap record." We're not quite making that claim for Co-Real Artists' 1973 single "What About You (In the World Today)," but it is definitely among the early proto-rap records.
This 12-inch single collects the original version, an alternate take, bonus beats, and Co-Real's "Bound by Blood." The track "What About You (In the World Today)" also appears on the Stones Throw compilation The Funky 16 Corners.
